The last few months have been ripe with new treats from Richmond do-it-all, DJ Harrison. As the latest addition to Stones Throw's ever-expanding roster of brilliant beatsmiths and multi-instrumentalists, Harrison's next project is certainly in good hands, and today it gets a name and a liberated track. His debut with the west coast camp, HazyMoods, will arrive this summer and for our first peek, he's shared "RollSkate/KalimbaTale," a two-part recalibration of a pair of Dilla gems, kneaded out with live drums, keys and touches of the very samples used in the late producer's suites.
Get a taste of DJ Harrison's drunken drum stew down below. Catch him on the road with Butcher Brown next week at Baltimore's 8x10 on April 18th or at NYC's Brooklyn Bowl on April 20th and keep an ear to the ground for his next transmission in the weeks and months ahead. Last month, he released the collaborative project, Songs About H.E.R., with Sir Froderick, which is certainly worth dipping into if you're one for rainy Sundays with warm rhodes and swung-t0-hell drums. Pick it up on iTunes today.
