DJ Platurn - Breaking The Ice Pt. 1
Bay Area selector DJ Platurn takes listeners back to his roots with the first installment of the Breaking The Ice mix series, featuring Icelandic rare grooves from the 60s to the 80s.
Breaking the Ice is an extended mix of rare—mostly never before heard—Icelandic tracks that are heavily underscored with psych, funk, soul, disco, and in-the-pocket rhythms... The music presented has been compiled through a lifetime of collecting, while others have been passed down through Platurn’s familial, musical roots. The packaging includes rare photos, via Platurn's father Magnus Thordarson, and other ephemera from Iceland's small yet vibrant music scene during the late 1960s thru the early 1980s. The release also features extensive liner notes by longtime music journalist David Ma, couching the music’s history as well and the region’s bygone era in which it arose.

David Begun - A Sense of Blu
David Begun pays tribute to Blu and Common with his latest mashup project entitled A Sense of Blu.
This newest mashup album combines the lyrical verses from California's own Blu with mid-90's boom-bap instrumentals from Common's Resurrection to create A Sense of Blu. A production classic featuring works from No I.D. and Y-Not, Resurrection was a seminal hip-hop album and a classic in every sense of the word. Blu's style has always been considered a throw back to this same lyrical period and this project imagines what it would be like if he truly were thrown back into 1994 and the golden era.

B0nds - Brazil
Virginia producer B0nds combines boom bap and broken beat with bossa nova to take listeners on a trip through the sonic wonderland that is Brazilian music. The 17-track beat tape is a lofi journey that leans on lush samples and plodding, mechanical cadences. On the off-chance you can’t hop a flight to Rio, this project should hold you over.

Alecs DeLarge - S950 Bumps
Bristol’s own Alecs DeLarge returns to the surface after a bit of a hiatus with the 11-track S950 Bumps instrumental tape.
I was worried that my four fans (hi Mum) might think that I was dead, so to show you I'm still about (lol) here's some hot and spicy snacks cooked up on a half dead S950 & my MPC 2000. The bonus tracks were made along with another batch of unreleased beats I did on the S900 in Spring - now is as good a time as ever to release them so enjoy a rare treat from the vaults.
