Son Little Capes For SPLC, Donating All Proceeds from Searing Live Acoustic Series [Premiere]

The Philly bluesman launches a campaign to support a tireless defender of American civil liberties

In support of a stellar sophomore album, Son Little has kept to a tireless touring schedule. He's lapped the states a few times over and will be cap the North American leg in Toronto at the end of this month.

Dotting cities on both coasts (currently out west ahead of a show at Portland's Doug Fir Lounge tomorrow night) Little has filmed a series of searing acoustic live takes from various stops on the cross-country marathon, partnering with Lagunitas to release them as standalone track, donating all proceeds to the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center.)

According to Little, it's less a gesture and more an obligation, as he tells us via email:

“The SPLC has been defending civil rights and monitoring the hate groups that threaten the civil rights and liberties that make this country great for almost 50 years. With hate groups seemingly emboldened and on the rise, I see no organization more worthy of support than SPLC.”

Today, we have the pleasure of premiering the latest installment of the series, finding Little in a soul-scorching mode, as he performs the New Magic standout "Mad About You" captured from a recent pitstop in Atlanta.

You can watch the clip above. Son Little's New Magic is out now via Anti Records and can be purchased from iTunes today. Hit the link below to pick up this version by donating the SPLC. Scroll on for the remaining dates of his North American tour.
