Un Blonde's "Nerve for The Ages" is a Full-Melt R&B Dream [Premiere]
A sweeter side to Montreal's full-bloom renaissance
As the latest addition to Anti Records, Jean-Sebastian Audet, better known as Un Blonde, has landed on the roster of an ever-expanding family of forward-minded musicians. His experiments with the stranger side of soul are not only welcomed but requisite amongst r&b legends and trailblazers like Mavis Staples, Dr. Dog, Son Little and Xenia Rubinos.

On his critically-praised, Good Will Come to You, Audet panned from lo-fi to ultra-HD with gospel and country melodies, building big, rich harmonies informed by "dark zone" vocal maestros like D'Angelo and Sly Stone. But for his Anti debut (slated for 2018,) Audet's evolution as an r&b dreamweaver will be on full display. "Nerve for The Ages," premiering today ahead of a grip of upcoming tour dates, is the first glimpse at this new batch of honey-coated heat. The project's first single is a full-melt (and deceptively silver-tongued) r&b dream that's an easy recall to the kung fu swing of J Dilla's genius; the screwfacing powers of a sweet and simple rhodes groove over tight, crisp drums.
