Audio: "Freedom" Anthony Hamilton x Django Unchained - "Freedom"
The newest track from Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained Soundtrack has found its way over to okayplayer. "Freedom" by Anthony Hamilton features the soul singer and Elayna Boynton, both of whom chant the ballad of freedom from something deep inside. The track is set to play over a flashback sequence in which Django (Jamie Foxx) remembers being caught while trying to escape with his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), and pleads to be punished instead of her. Speaking on the song which was co-written by himself, Boynton and producer Kevin Wooten, Hamilton said:
"Me, Elayna and Kelvin got to thinking about Django's story -- how sometimes we have to be willing to put it all on the line," says Hamilton, just nominated for two Grammy Awards (best R&B album and R&B song) for work off his Back to Love album. "And Freedom was born from that place. A place deep inside all of us, that fights to free ourselves from the chains of the world."
The Django Unchained soundtrack drops next Tuesday, December 18 and the movie comes out Christmas Day. Listen to "Freedom" by Anthony Hamilton below and get free.
