Audio Premiere: BadBadNotGood - "Vices"
BBNG2_600
BadBadNotGood is neither an answer record to Bad Meets Evil or a site dedicated to LOLcats being naughty. BadBadNotGood is a jazz trio from Toronto that were discovered through their online covers of Odd Future--an experiment which, in the anything-could-happen universe of the internets, pretty quickly lead to an in-studio collaboration with Tyler, the Creator (watch after the jump). Before you know it Gilles Peterson had invited them to play his award show last December (where they covered James Blake's "CMYK"). The band has since been to L.A where they've been recording some new material with Earl Sweatshirt and Frank Ocean--possibly to debut at Coachella, where they will be performing.
This new jam "Vices" however, is proof that BBNG are not a sideshow, one-trick pony or novelty act. It's got chops like a mutton and if anything the fact that one ensemble of bass, keys and drums can do both this and THAT is a surefire sign that they are ones to watch. Luckily you can listen while you watch because their new full-length project BBNG2 drops tomorrow April 3rd, and okayplayer is proud to play host to the world's very first listen to its "eleven songs, sixty-one minutes and twenty-six seconds."
