Blood Orange- "Time Will Tell"
Blood Orange aka Dev Hynes aka Lightspeed Champion is quickly becoming the go-to composer and producer of "alternative" R&B soundscapes and proves why with the playful video for "Time Will Tell" off Cupid Deluxe, the follow-up solo LP to 2011's Coastal Grooves. The video features the monochromatically clad Dev in a one-man show, dancing about a studio with nothing but mirrors and one lonesome piano furnishing the room.
The man of many monikers has cemented himself as one of grey-area R&B's most prolific producers, getting roped in to produce Solange's last LP True, an upcoming Grace Jones release and handling production on a slew of other recent projects, including "Everything Is Embarrassing", a B-side for Sky Ferriera's most recent release Night Time, My Time, which is due out later this month. You can catch Dev speaking tomorrow night as a guest lecturer on "Composing And The Synesthetic Sense" at NYU , where he will also be debuting a score he composed for Gia Coppola's upcoming film Palo Alto. BK residents can bear witness to the jack-of-all-trades this Friday at his release party for Cupid Deluxe at 285 Kent in Williamsburg.
