Soul Legend Bobby Caldwell & Jack Splash Are 'Cool Uncle', Drop Bubbly New Single feat. Jessie Ware
Bobby Caldwell may be a name you associate with late-70s soul classics like "What You Won't Do For Love" or "Open Your Eyes" (the source material for Common & J Dilla's own classic "The Light".) But the yacht rock pioneer has some big plans to reintroduce himself in 2015. In collaboration with Jack Splash, Caldwell will be donning the title Cool Uncle, releasing a full project with Splash that promises to be nothing short of spectacular. Case in point: their very funky debut single "Break Away," featuring the lovely lilt of one Jessie Ware. The track bears all of the hallmark touches of Caldwell; a bubbly, piano-led groove and silk-smooth melodics, assisted in no small part by Ware, who holds down the high-end with grace and understated cool. Cool Uncle is slated for a November 13th release via Fresh Young Minds, featuring guest appearances from Mayer Hawthorne, Eric Biddines, Cee-Lo Green and JD8.
