OKP Premiere: Brady Watt & Olamide Faison Take Us To Church w/ Their Soul-Stirring Joint "How We Livin'"
[Artwork by Lili Lopez]
Brady Watt's curatorial debut as the chief producer and central creative on his forthcoming LIFETRONICS LP is just around the corner, dropping imminently on February 12th. And while previous offerings from the project have found him linking with NYC greats like Talib Kweli, Melanie Fiona and Smoke DZA, today's drop --the final release before the album is unleashed-- marks what is perhaps his most progressive and poignant outing yet. Enlisting musical everyman Olamide Faison (more to come on that front soon) Watt stitches together a soul-stirring sonic suite that'll have you nodding your head and two-stepping the day away at the same damn time. Lush, church-touched guitars and Faison's velvet vocal treatment lead the track, but the low end and that ever-so slight swing permeate straight-on through the bones of the composition. It's yet another taste of what LIFETRONICS has in store for us, which will put nearly a year's worth of sessions in his Harlem brownstone (pictured above) to rest and begin what will surely be a remarkable new page, furnished with even more dopeness, hopefully bringing his most recent collaborator DJ Premier into the mix. Time will certainly tell. Listen to Brady Watt and Olamide Faison link on the heavy new cut "How We Livin" below. Preorder LIFETRONICS via iTunes today.
