DJ Soko, Def Dee & Detroit v. Everybody: Guilty Simpson Drop Off The Dusty Single "Kyle Reese"
Detroit-repping mix-maker, beat selector and producer DJ Soko is on the verge of releasing a his new LP Domino Effect, and its August 21st release date can't come soon enough. To up the anticipation for the new album, Soko has fired off a new single, the dusty and vintage-tinged collaboration between Guilty Simpson and Def Dee, entitled "Kyle Reese." Built of a smooth flute loop and gritty drums, the track is a duel of sorts--Simpson's bars versus Soko's aggro scratches. Here's what he had to say about the new cut:
Guilty Simpson gets straight to the point. He doesn’t mince words nor does he waste bars. In someone else’s hands, Def Dee’s uptempo track might’ve made for a danceable song with a catchy hook but Guilty Simpson’s lyrics and patented delivery transform it into a short but sweet barrage of verbal carnage. “Kyle Reese” is made complete by DJ Soko’s scratched hooks that perfectly complement both the beat and the bars. Yet another banger brought to you by Left Of Center.
