Visual Culture : Jean-Michel Basquiat's Rarely Seen Notebooks To Be Exhibited At Brooklyn Museum
New York art enthusiasts will soon be able to lay their eyes on a sizable and rare batch of Jean-Michel Baquiat's work. The iconic former Brooklyn resident's notebooks will soon be doing a stint at The Brooklyn Museum come April, as Basquiat: The Notebooks exhibit promises to display his unearthed loose-leaf drawings, sketches, poems and observations; all created between 1980 and 1987. It will be the first time any of his notebooks will have made their way to a museum and will show the early stages of several of his most memorable paintings, alongside larger pieces that will be making their inaugural museum appearance. The exhibit begins April 3rd and runs through August 23rd of 2015, so you've got all spring and summer long to get down to Prospect Heights for all of Basquiat's visual virtuosity.
