Kelis - "Jerk Ribs" (prod. Dave Sitek)
UPDATE:The soundcloud for "Call On Me" has been taken down but either we're crazy or its been re-leaked to the web on a different soundcloud player (scroll down) under the new title "Jerk Ribs." Can't compare with the previous version now, of course, but that sure sounds like the same beat to me.
Kelis teams with Dave Sitek of TV On The Radio for her long-awaited return, marked by "Call On Me" - the first bit of new music from the singer since her 2010 LP Flesh Tone. The track is reportedly the first single to emerge from her forthcoming LP, also produced by Sitek. The LP will be dropping on Sitek's Federal Prism label and is rumored to be the first of two coming from the singer this year. Kelis' return sounds like it is shaping up to be no less unique than any of her previous releases, but definitely a more mature take on the synthy left-of-center aesthetic she cemented with her 1999 debut Kaleidoscope - this track sporting a brassier, more percussive orchestration of her signature space-based sound.
