Madlib & Freddie Gibbs Tap Into Some Of NY's Finest For The "Knicks" Remix
Madlib and Freddie Gibbs' Piñata needs no help in landing at the top of our year-end superlatives list. It's already firmly perched up there. But when some of NYC and heaviest hitting rhymers land on the reworked "Knicks" (tapping into the supreme grammar of blue-eyed bomber Action Bronson, wiz-kid Joey Bada$$ and Jersey City mic-slayer Ransom) we're sure to take heed. The trio respectively warn of the perils of the dimes and nicks game, each in their own way. Bronson recalls what it's like to defecate while tripping on mushrooms, young Bada$$ takes us back to his Afghan kush pushing days and Ransom gives a properly thugnificent account worthy of a Gangsta Gibbs reboot. The track will drop worldwide as part of the Knicks EP on November 18th, which will feature another take on the record with a new verse from Gibbs as well as a new joint in "Home," featuring the BJ The Chicago Kid and two bonus beats in "The Dunk" and "Garden." Stateside fans can cop digitals today via Rappcats with vinyl shipping out on Halloween. Peep this ill rework of "Knicks" with Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$ and Ransom below, just be sure to keep it locked for all things MadGibbs.
