It's been a minute since we caught up with NYC bass sage, Brady Watt. But the year's been kind to the low-end specialist, traveling the world as DJ Premier's right hand bass man, laying the thump down on cuts from jessica Care moore and newcomers like Michael Blume. Before that he gave us a stellar debut full-length in Lifetronics and the follow-up instrumental EP, Holy Mountain Spirituals.
Now as he readies the release of his sophomore solo album, he's sharing a little taste of what's to come, drawing from his own time in the church with a remix of Chance The Rapper's spirited mid-Coloring Book breather "Same Drugs." Here Watt injects the cut with an extra-heavy dose of gospel, replacing the parlor-esque keys with full-on Hammond B3s, and a bubbly bass groove, of course. So if you've been looking for a little Chano chaser, here it is; glowing and gorgeous.
Here Brady Watt's remix of Chance The Rapper's "Same Drugs" down below and if you happen to reside in the greater NYC area, be sure to keep your ear to the ground for his forthcoming live shows. They're simply not to be missed. Brush up on Watt's catalogue on his Soundcloud page.
