Pyramid Vritra "Spool" [Official Video]
Stones Throw emcee/producer, Pyramid Vritra (of Odd Future/Jet Age of Tomorrow fame), really came with the heat with his new LP, Indra. Shit gets a little weird (in a good way) throughout the 15 track audio odyssey, and the videos do a pretty good job of matching said weirdness. The latest example comes with the visuals for one of the LP’s standout tracks, “Spool.” Watch the Stella Kae directed video, below (as well as words from Pyramid on its' meaning). As a bonus, also get a listen to Pyramid’s full set at BKLYN1834’s producer showcase, Bystander FX.
"People often expect rappers and rap videos to be a certain way. Certain topics are covered. Certain things fit certain molds. RuPaul and Gary Wilson represent expression without boundaries within their fields. Most people would find Gary kind of weird. With his performances and lyrics, but he's just making what he wants and expressing it how he wants. Same with Ru. Everything doesn't have to be put into a box. Everything doesn't have to sound or look like something else. The beat shouldn't work. Its basically a bass line a kick and a snare for the majority of the song. But everything fits together and it works in the end."
