Watch Q-Tip Perform ATCQ's "Excursions" With Jack White Live In NYC
Jack White and Q-Tip created a hip-hop/blues rock collision last night when White brought out Tip as a special guest during his sold-out Madison Square Garden show in NYC. Arriving near the end of White's Lazaretto cut "Black Bat Licorice," Tip spat a few of White's own very rap-like lyrics before leading his band through a fierce rendition of "Excursions," one of A Tribe Called Quest's most beloved joints.
Looks of admiration, respect and pure joy were visible on Jack White's face as his very special guest tore through the rat-a-tat lines of "Excursions." With White supplying jagged blues fills from his electric guitar, Tip rocked the mic and commanded White's band with the same fiery aplomb that's kept him in rap's top tier for almost three decades.
But Tip wasn't the only MC to blow the roof off of MSG last night--openers Run the Jewels turned out a thunderous (and brief) set filled with many of the punishing hits that made RTJ2one of 2014's greatest albums. Below watch Killer Mike, El-P and guest Zac de la Rocha perform "Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)" before White took the stage himself.
