Audio Premiere: Q-Tip x Tittsworth - "After The Dance" f. Theophilus London + Alison Carney
Q-Tip arguably invented the rapper-sounding-slick-on-a-club-track sub-genre with his cameo on Deee Lite's 1990 hippie house banger "Groove Is In The Heart" (remember "feelin' kinda high like a Hendrix haze" ?) For sure the A Tribe Called Quest frontman was right in there with the Jungle Brothersin crossing genre boundaries and turning houses into Native Tongues huts.
Which makes this new Tittsworth joint (you may know Titts from his T&A record label, run of course with the homie DJ Ayres, collectively known as Ayres & Titties) "After The Dance" kind of a throwback to the future. Featuring Tip flowing in a zone that is somehow both uptempo and lackadaisical over the filtered 4/4 bump and staccato claps. An r&b song written for a rave, the vibes are completed by an ethereal vocal from Alison Carney and Theophilus London sounds right at home alongside Q-Tip with some bars that match him for hectic laziness. The overall result is a timeless dancefloor motivator that would fit as well in a set with say "Rapture" as "Step Into A World" or blend into Groove Armada as well as Lana Del Ray x araabMUZIK--and Okayplayer is proud to host the track's world premiere!
Step into a new world below by hitting play on the track below--and there's any justice in that world this will be the beginning of a new supergroup called "Q-Titts."
