Sheila E. Wrote An Entire Album Inspired By Prince Since The Icon's Death, Plans 2016 Release
Of all the people touched by the passing of the singular, generation-defining talent that is Prince, few (if any) have had the pleasure and honor of working as closely with the man as Sheila E. Their romance has inspired countless classics in the expansive purple catalogue, their collaborations have gone on to become classics in their own right. With such a deep rapport, it goes without saying that since the icon's passing, Sheila has had it harder than most.
So hard, in fact, that as Billboard reports, the Glamorous Life singer scrapped her entire forthcoming record, writing and recording an entirely new piece inspired by Prince, affectionately-titled Girl Meets Boy. The album is slated to arrive later this year and will certainly be one to watch out for. On Sunday, June 26th, she'll join D'Angelo, The Roots and Janelle Monae in paying tribute to Prince at the 2016 BET Awards; a moment we're all hanging on the edge of our seats for. As far as her new album is concerned (her first since 2013's Sheila E.: Icon) no official date has been set for its release, but you know just where to get the details once they start rolling out.
