Solange, Jill Scott, Brandy and L.L. Cool J were amongst the big names to grace the stage at the 2013 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana. The four-day festival saw a host of talent pass through the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Solange marked her inaugural performance on the festival's main stage with a set that included material from her acclaimed True EP and older material, including the ever-popular singles "T.O.N.Y." and "I Decided." During an interview after her set, Jill Scott discussed working on two albums simultaneously; one project is a collection of lullabies, while the other remains largely under wraps. Brandy made her first appearance at the festival - a performance capped by a tribute to friend and mentor Whitney Houston - while L.L. Cool J took a break from the Kings Of The Mic tour to drop some classics on the NOLA crowd. The fest also included appearances from Janelle Mone, Emeli Sand, Chrisette Michele and Maxwell, before wrapping on Sunday with a massive performance from Beyonc at the Superdome.
