Pass The Popcorn: Watch A Trailer For 'The Amazing Nina Simone' Doc, Landing In Theaters Next Month
I know what you're thinking. "Another Nina Simone documentary?" And to put it simply: yes, there's another documentary treatment on the way attempting to capture the megalithic weight of Simone's career and her impact on the music at large. The Amazing Nina Simone comes to us from director Jeff L. Lieberman and promises to be an even deeper exploration of the jazz and folk giant's career, compiling interviews with over 60 musicians, friends and family, working with Simone's surviving brothers on the film, which is now slated for an October 16th release at NYC's AMC Empire and LA's Sundance Sunset.
All of this goes to show that the life of one of music's most influential musicians and voices may be too big for even two documentaries (and a borderline offensive biopic treatment.) See the trailer for The Amazing Nina Simone ahead of its limited release in NYC and LA below along with the full list of theaters that will be treated to screenings across the nation.
