OKP Premiere : The Soul Rebels Put A Brassy Spin On Talib Kweli's "I Try"

New Orleans' top-shelf brass ensemble The Soul Rebels have pledged to drop a track per week on their lengthy nationwide tour. Today we're proud to premiere the latest installment of that musical gift-giving with their full-bodied arrangement of Talib Kweli's "I Try." Word has it, the eight-piece ensemble conjured up this composition on the spot just before soundcheck at an Atlanta show this Fall, playing it only that night for all the ATLiens. The recording below is that captured moment of brassy brilliance, inviting us all to experience the funky frequencies they injected into the BK MC's Beautiful Struggle standout on that warm Autumn evening in Georgia. For those of you who have yet to experience the wind-wielding wizardry of N'awlins' finest, you can grab a free copy of their absolutely blazing Power = Power Mixtapefeaturing reworked heat from Daft Punk, Drake, Jay Z and a slew of others. Go ahead and put you ears to The Soul Rebels' lush take on Talib Kweli's "I Try" below and keep it locked for the latest from the fellas. If you need any reminder as to the power of their performance, jump back to that night they gave Joey Bada$$ a proper accompaniment at Brooklyn Bowl.
