The White Mandingos - The Ghetto Is Tryna Kill Me [LP Stream]
The White Mandingos kick in the door with a full stream of their debut LP The Ghetto Is Tryna Kill Me. MURS, Sacha Jenkins SHR and Darryl Jenifer prep fans for the June 11th release of the album with a sneak preview of the project that takes you through their booming opus from top to bottom. The Ghetto Is Tryna Kill Me is a conceptual LP that relates the feelings of character Tyrone White - a musician from Harlem's Polo Grounds Houses - who represents the plight of many people in the ghetto that feel overlooked, misunderstood and generally maligned. Sacha Jenkins explained the details of the character and his proximity to the title of the album in a press statement:
"I think a lot of folks will be able to relate to Tyrone and his struggles" He continued, "He feels misunderstood- by his women, his friends, his people. And that misunderstanding sometimes affects who he is and who he truly wants to be. Should he not be playing this music because he's black? And who the hell is in the position to tell him what to do anyways?"
