Weird Al Yankovic comes roaring back with some of his best (relatively speaking, of course) work in years, spoofing Pharrell's "Happy" andRobin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" in a new set of skewed reworks and video treatments dubbed #8videos8days, a roll-out campaign for his Mandatory Fun LP. The latest takes on Pharrell's two smash's -- "Tacky" and "Word Crimes" respectively -- borrow the bones of the originals and flip the tracks on their ears in a quirky true-to-Al way.
The iconic musical jester has been a bit absent as of late (likely due to the internet's takeover of Al's parody game) but it seems the purveyor of polka parties has awoken from his slumber. Perhaps we've supplied enough fvckery to summon him back into action? Who knows. Keep an eye out for cameos from Jack Black, Kristen Schaal, Margaret Cho, Aisha Tyler and more in "Tacky" and enjoy Weird Al's poignant grammar lessons in "Word Crimes." You can watch both videos down below, but #8videos8days continues tomorrow, so be sure to check back to see who Al choses as his next victim. I'm thinking Miley. Mandatory Fun is out now and can be purchased via iTunes.
