Will Ferrell got a little help from some unsuspected friends when he and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith battled it out in an epic drum-off on The Tonight Show. In a hilarious bout, Smith and Ferrell traded off a few solos --though we suspect Ferrell had the assistance of a certain third drummer in the room-- to strut their stuff on the sticks until one was deemed the superior doppelgänger. After fumbling through his final take, Ferrell went straight SNL ca. 2000, busting out the cowbell as RHCP actually joined him in performing his iconic bit, churning out a Roots-assisted cut of Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear The Reaper" (where's Christopher Walken when ya need him?)
