Zakee Kuduro Presents 'Healing Walks' With Power Shift TV
Zakee Kuduro presents Healing Walks - a short documentary about the life-threatening effects of deforestation and tar sands destruction in Alberta, Canada - with Power Shift TV. The film opens in the midst of a peaceful but palpably painful demonstration against continued destruction of the ancestral lands and territories around the property of the indigenous native tribes of North America, many of whom occupy areas where drilling for the Keystone XL Pipeline has been taking place. Generations of natives and other concerned citizens banded together for the 8 Mile Healing Walk and ceremony launched to draw attention to the disease, death and irreversible destruction being caused by corporations and government contractors drilling for oil; negative byproducts of those efforts include but are not limited to respiratory ailments, different forms of cancer, injury to wildlife, contaminated food sources and dead rivers. Power Shift TV joined members of the community to help amplify the call for healing and bring awareness to the destruction unfolding on what were once fertile and vibrant lands.
