4/20: The Stoner Post [2013 Edition]

Record Store Day is cool and all, but let us not neglect the other holiday that's been going on today, It's National Weed Smoking Day. *deep inhale* I've been "celebrating" since sunrise so please excuse any typos (they probably won't be corrected). The plan was to post this at 4:20 on 4/20, but yeah, weed tends to destroy any type of punctuality. I'll keep the commentary to a minimal, but you already know all your favorite weed smoking rappers had to drop some music today, so get it all here, as well as any other 4/20 related content I found in my inbox. To break things up there are plenty of stoner friendly gifs in there too (mostly stolen from Buzzfeed). Roll up and click away, let this post enhance what's left of the holiday.

Alright, let's start things off with the creator of one of the greatest weed anthems in history. In case you needed a reminder that Styles P needs that weed, well here's "I Need Weed" produced by Scram Jones off of their new new album, Float.

I know y'all be gettin' high in Toronto too. Duck Down signee, Promise, makes this point clear with his new single "Soaring To Heaven" with Rich Kidd on the beat and Saukrates lending additional vocals. How amazing and sadly relatable was Pineapple Express? (And how annoying are your non smoker friends who constantly call it the dumbest movie ever?). Well it looks like we're about to get PE x10 with the summer release of the next pothead cult classic, This Is The End, starring Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson and Jay Baruchel. Check the 4/20 specific commercial above, and look for it in theatres June 14th.

What would 4/20 be without the original stoners, Cheech & Chong? I mean, yeah this song is awful, but the video's great and I would be remiss to not include them in here somewhere. "WEed Are The World" is from their new animated movie, Cheech & Chong's Animated Movie which is in theaters now.

You're only fooling yourself if you think Alice's "Wonderland" was anything more than the dilusions of a burnt out stoner.

Bay Area duo Zion I have never made a secret of their love of the greenery. This year they come through with an EP just in time for the holiday, The Vapors, and the video to go with it. Get it, below.

Let's check in with the Odd Future camp right quick. Domo Genesis comes through with this 4/20 special "Drugs Got Me Spiritual" featuring Remy Banks with Alchemist on the beat. This one could rock any day of the year, but hits that much harder on a day like this.

We know no bias here. Let's take it to the UK and see what they smokin on right now. Piff Gang has been buzzin' heavy over there for a minute, but I admittedly haven't listened much yet. But I just hit play on their new project, PG13, and I like what I hear so far. Look no further than the group name to know they're bout that weed life.

I know next to nothing about Ghetto, but looking at that album cover and skimming a few of these tracks, dude clearly takes his weed smoke seriously and he's got some impressive guest features. His new tape, Chain Smoking,  has appearances from Fat Trel, Sean Price, Smoke DZA, Reks, Lee Bannon, and more.

Really hard to look at Sloths the same way anymore.

I've been waiting on this shit for YEARS now. Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y always seem to bring the best out of eachother on record. At long last, the smokiest duo rap has to offer release their new EP, Live In Concert, appropriately on 4/20, the follow up to their '09 Mixtape, How Fly. This one ain't free though, go get them 6 tracks on iTunes.

This cat is CLEARLY on something much stronger than Marijuana, but whatever, we'll let him live.
