4/20: The Stoner Post [2015 Edition]
Ah yes, its that time of year again. 4/20 is upon us and I promise not to leave you high and dry like I did last year. So in what has become tradition, I am bringing back the annual OKP Stoner Post for 2015. The last edition in 2013 set OKP records for the highest traffic and most comments in the history of this site (neither of those things are true), so lets make history once again in 2015. Like previous years, I aimed to drop this on 4/20 at 4:20, but like every other year, I got too high and now Im late (yes, even missed the Pacific Time cut off). But punctuality be damned, lets get to why youre really here, because you (like me) love weed and know it deserves to be celebrated. So Ive spent the better part of my day collecting all the music, articles, videos, releases, interviews, lists, tips, products etc. that go hand in hand with this glorious day. And of course, all of the content is broken up with random gifs, enjoy and smoke responsibly (whatever that means).
To truly appreciate the holiday that is, it's important to understand where it comes from (and why we get high on April 20th and/or at 4:20 every day). So before we get into all the madness, watch this brief animated clip from High Times on the origins of 4/20 and The Waldos... or don't, again I have plenty of GIFs to satiate your ADHD, so keep clicking.
I hear cats do well on the internet. This one is smoking a joint... sooo, there's that.
Dudes like Snoop, B-Real, and Red N Mef, are definitely on the Mount Rushmore of weed smoking rappers, but Curren$y is right up there for this newer generation of greenery inclined emcees. With that being said, you knew he was going to drop something on 4/20, and he doesn't dissapoint. Though there's no overt weed theme here, I'm gonna go ahead and guess all 5-tracks are filled with references. You can stream Spitta's new EP, Even More Saturday Night Car Tunes, below and cop via iTunes.
This would be the "after" to the joint smoking cat. So yeah, the whole cat thing... it's going to keep happening. It's weird, and I like it.
It would be blasphemous to not give Redman some solo shine in this post. Though I'd prefer some new music, his interviews are just as entertaining. In this one, he sits down with Complex to talk about 4/20 essentials, a 16 hour high he once had from edibles (awesome), and his first weed smoking experience when he was 13 and hunting rabbits... yes, he had a shotgun in his hands at the time (insert your own high Elmer Fudd joke).
ok, just a brief break from the cats to fuck up your mind right quick.
Hypetrak for the win on this one. If you just need a playlist to supply you with some of the best music to get high to, look no further. It's got everything from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, to Devin The Dude, to Kid Cudi, to Wiz Khalifa, to Drake (wtf? I don't know, ask them on that last one). Anyway, go ahead and light up and let this one play.
I'll explain in a minute, just stay with me.
This shit went viral to the tune of 20 million plays after its' release in November, so you've probably already seen it, but if not, please enjoy the greatness that is 3 grandmothers smoking weed for the first time. You can go ahead and follow that up with the latest Cut Video, Ex-Cops smoking weed, below.
And for no particular reason, Jacobim Mugatu.
Back to the music. Let's check in with Brooklyn's own Chelsea Reject for the aptly titled new video, "So High" featuring Atownomas. No shortage of weed anthems today, but I'm feelin' this one.
Seriously, I really love tacos.
And speaking of stoner food, you can never go wrong with Ben & Jerry's. And to show love to what must be their largest demographic, they've unleashed their latest creation on 4/20, the BRRR-ito. An ice cream burrito, a pot head's fantasy.
yup, pretty much the schedule.
One of the most amazing vid series on all of the internets would have to be GQ's Most Expensive Shit. In this season, they have 2 Chainz spend up their money on the most opulent bullshit on the planet, it's great. In this episode, Titty Boi smokes out of a $10,000 bong.
Yeah, so:
So things are only gonna get weirder from here.
Philly representatives STS & RJD2 have a new collabo album on the way, STS x RJD2, which is set to drop on May 5th. They've been releasing some heat, and their latest joint is dedicated to this special day. Listen to the soulful, "420," below.
I promised you things would get weirder.
Yooo this shit right here is gold. I was honestly wondering what I was going to do with myself being this high and afraid to go outside. Fader has compiled a list of the Top Ten Things to watch on Netflix while you're high. Typically wildlife specials are my go-to, but I think I'm going to start off my night with their #3 suggestion, You're Next, and end my evening with Belly, of course. I'm not typing all that shit out, head over there for the full list.
I have no problem admitting I was staring at this for at least 2 minutes waiting to zoom all the way in before I realized the loop.
Cali duo, Audio Push, come through with a 4/20 release of their latest mixtape, The Good Vibe Tribe. One look at that album art and it's clear the release date was no coincidence. Features from Vince Staples, Casey Veggies, Isaiah Rashad, G-Eazy, Fat Trel, OG Maco, and more.
Alright, time to start winding this down, and as always, I have more gifs than content, so....
Dizzy Wright and Berner weren't about to let the holiday come and go without adding their contribution to the mix. Watch their smokey new video for "I Can Tell You Needed It." The Growing Process drops on May 26th.
stash game on 10.
This would be one of those things that just recently became a fact, but you'd assume has always been the case. But Willie Nelson has his own strain of weed now.
Pot Heads like to get fresh too. And for your 4/20 apparel, NY based streetwear brand Rocksmith has teamed up with High Times for the 420 American Pop Collab Capsule. Check the other tees in the collection over at Rocksmith. Matta fact, Undrcwn has a pretty tight 420 capsule collection for today and today only, check that too.
yup.
HOLD THE FUCK UP. Sticky Fingaz just changed the whole game. Pot head ingenuity at its finest, Hoodie Pipes!?!?! All I need is a release date.
Alright, I'm signing out, enjoy what's left of your day
and
Happy 4/20, y'all!
