The R&B and quiet storm group will be contributing a new track to the forthcoming film which features Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Erivo, Carrie Coon, Daniel Kaluuya, Brian Tyree Henry, Colin Farrell, Jacki Weaver, Robert Duvall and Liam Neeson.
McQueen revealed in a statement that the song is titled "The Big Unknown," and will be played during the film's end credits.
"It was an honor to work with such a legend. Sade is an incomparable talent and incredible artist who so rarely releases new material," McQueen said according to the Los Angeles Times. "But luckily the original series of Widows had deeply resonated with her."
"Her music works in complete harmony with the film, it is a perfect combination," McQueen added. "Working with Sade was a powerful experience — we had many deep conversations about the song which is extremely heartfelt and moving. I feel so lucky that she has made this beautiful song for my film."
It's unknown if the song will have a proper release or not but so, for now, the only way "The Big Unknown" can be heard is by seeing Widows.
Prior to this, Sade released a new song as a part of Ava DuVernay's A Wrinkle in Time soundtrack. Hopefully, all of this supports the news that the group will be releasing new music sometime soon.
