A 'Rush Hour 4' Is In the Works, According to Jackie Chan

While at the Red Sea Film Festival on Thursday, actor and stuntman Jackie Chan revealed that a Rush Hour 4 is in development.

Jackie Chan (and maybe Chris Tucker?) are coming back to movie theatres with Rush Hour 4. During the Red Sea Film Festival on Thursday (December 8), Chan announced to the crowd in Saudi Arabia that the fourth Rush Hour film is in development.

“We’re talking about part 4 right now,” Chan told the crowd, also sharing that he was scheduled to discuss the script with the RH4 director that evening. Brett Ratner directed the previous three films in the Rush Hour franchise, but in 2017, the filmmaker was sexual harassment and misconduct by actresses including Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge. In light of the controversial allegations, Warner Bros. Pictures severed ties with Ratner.

Alongside comedian and actor Chris Tucker, Chan starred in the first three Rush Hour films from 1998 to 2007. The franchise follows Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee (Chan) who partners with LAPD officer Detective James Carter (Tucker) to combat a spree of international crimes. The inaugural Rush Hour grossed $244 million worldwide, solidifying Chan as an Hollywood acting star, although he admitted at Red Sea Film Festival that he expected the film to be a box office bomb. The actor also said that he planned to quit Hollywood due to a lack of interesting roles he was pursued with.

“I tried so many times to go to Hollywood, but after that, I said no more Hollywood because my English is not good, they’re not my culture, they don’t like this kind of action,” he said.
