A Tribe Called Quest, Eminem Nominated for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2022
A Tribe Called Quest, Eminem and Lionel Richie are amongst first-time nominees on the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame long list.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame have announced the nominees for the class of 2022. Eminem, A Tribe Called Quest, and Lionel Richie have been nominated to the long list the first time, joining Fela Kuti, Dionne Warwick and more who have been nominated previously.
Eminem is the only artist to be nominated in his first year of eligibility. To be eligible, an individual artist or band must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. Erykah Badu was eligible this year, as her 1997 debut album Baduizm turns 25 this month, but she was not nominated. Mary J. Blige and Eric B & Rakim were previous Roll Hall nominees but did not make the 2022 long list.
Last year's inductees included Tina Turner, LL Cool J, Gil-Scott Heron and JAY-Z who received a Questlove-directed tribute at the ceremony.
Inductees will be announced in May with an induction ceremony being held in the fall. Fans can votes for their favorite artists on the Roll Hall website through April 29th. The top five artists will be submitted as a “fans’ ballot” alongside ballots submitted by music industry insiders,
