A Tribe Called Quest Announce 'People's Instinctive Travels...' 25th Anniversary Reissue
Just in time for its 25th anniversary, A Tribe Called Quest have announced the special reissue of their landmark debut LP People's Instinctive Travels & the Paths of Rhythm. That's right, it's time to Push it Along all the way back to El Segundo.
Despite April 10th being the album's exact 25th birthday, the new reissue will drop on November 13th through Sony Legacy records and will be a full remaster from the original tapes laid down by none other than Bob Power. Also in the package will be remixes fashioned by more modern stars of the hip-hop game. Will we finally hear Kendrick Lamar on "Can I Kick It?" We'll just have to wait and see.
"I had this album in my head for years before I did it," Q-Tip said in a press release. "Looking at it overall, to see the thoughts of a 16 year old gain any kind of acknowledgement makes me feel like I have arrived... But to see it in this incarnation ... I'm humbled." For his own part, Ali Shaheed Muhammad mused that People's Instinctive Travels "means a lot...It was the beginning of our careers; the beginning of our imprint; the beginning of seeing life the way we saw it, and being able to put it down in words and music."
The album's anniversary reissue package isn't yet available for pre-order, but when more details arise you can be damned sure we'll bring them to your full attention. If you just can't wait, and need to get a copy of the LP on vinyl, let us point you to the official OKP Shop. Watch a video trailer for the release below.
