Aaron Neville & THEESatisfaction Enjoy A Day Out Record Shopping w/ OKP TV
Aaron Neville is a soulcat of legendary proportions and 1/4 of The Neville Brothers, the man who sang "Tell It Like It Is" and "Crazy Love"--and for '80s babies the giver of infinite game who taught us that sooner or later "Everybody Plays The Fool." He is also a New Yorker, which means that when he's not breathing life into people's profoundest dreams and sufferings with the voice of a merciful angel, he can be found hanging out in the East Village and maybe shooting a little pool.
Being New Yorkers ourselves, we took advantage of our geographic proximity to spend the afternoon record shopping with the second-youngest Neville Brother at the East Vill's cratedigging Mecca A-1 Records the other day. And just to make it an even more unforgettable 'Day Out' we dragged along Stas and Cat of THEESatisfaction--who were almost as starstruck as we were, in spite of being rising stars themselves. If you're not down with THEESat's program they are essential purveyors of future soul, leading lights of Seattle's Black Weirdo collective and homies and labelmates with Shabazz Palaces and you need them in your life ASAP. But if you're not down, don't take our words for it, stop what you're doing and watch the dream hampton-directed video for "QueenS" immediately and then kick yourself for missing their set alongside Erykah Badu and Petite Noir at OKP's SXSW showcase. Then return here to enjoy a day of record shopping, talking about beats, tats and life with Aaron Neville and THEESatisfaction:
