Adele Reportedly In The Studio Working On New LP
Adele is reportedly in the studio prepping her next LP. After a bit of a break following the birth of her child last fall, it appears Adele has returned to the booth. Reports suggest she is laying down the first bit of her album in a London studio. The project is slated to be finished in Los Angeles and may lean on an older, jazz feel more than her recent chart-stompers. Specifically a source close to the project told UK's The Mirror:
"Four tracks are finished in terms of writing and she’s now laying down preliminary vocals with backing music and singers. The feel is very much Adele going back to her roots, with some modern jazz and a couple of classic old songs."
Thought the report has since been taken down--possibly due to unrelated comments made about Susan Boyle in the same article--its been widely picked up and appears to be confirmed by a separate report in the Telegraph that suggests the singer is indeed back in the studio but working with writer/producers James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, the Klaxons) and Kid Harpoon (Florence & the Machine, Jessie Ware and Calvin Harris) who's collective resumé does not exactly scream 'jazz'.
Either way, this new project follows 21 - the acclaimed 2011 release propelled by the hit single "Rolling In The Deep" - and a more recent award-winning performance of "Skyfall" for the last James Bond film. The album is rumored to be shaping up for a summer 2014 delivery. Keep your ears peeled.
