Danny Brown, Hannibal Buress To Play New Chicago AFROPUNK Fest
Mere days ahead of their large-scale Paris festival, AFROPUNK has added another event to its summer roster. On Saturday, June 4th Hannibal Buress and Danny Brown, along with recent G.O.O.D. music signee HOLT will perform in Chicago during an official AFROPUNK event at a yet-to-be-disclosed location. A one-day multiform festival in its own right, the day-long gathering will also feature live painting and plenty more Chicago-specific music.
AFROPUNK has for years been an essential fixture in the country's festival circuit. The new move is a continuation of the organization's branching out beyond its Brooklyn beginnings. Currently AFROPUNK regularly generates new videos and music.
The Chi-town festival will be the latest in AFROPUNK's "Most Wicked Party" series, which was born out of a partnership with Redd's Wicked Apple liquor and has already logged a hugely successful event in Atlanta (one which featured Run the Jewels and Curtis Harding). The organization will also be generating a "Born To Be Different" series of content specifically for Chicago; dubbed "The Chicago Stop," the new installment will feature Afrofuturism visual artist Hebru Brantly and also Max Sansing.
