Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard Announces Debut Solo Album, Releases First Single
Brittany Howard is finally releasing her debut album.
Grammy award-winning band Alabama Shakeshasn't released an album since 2015. There's a reason for that. Lead vocalist Brittany Howardhas been working on her own album.
On Tuesday, June 25th, Howard announced that she would be releasing her debut solo album. The album will be called Jaime and it will be released on September 20 on ATO Records.
With the announcement, Howard released a note explaining how the album came about. In the note, Howard said the title of the album was named after her little sister who died when Brittany was a teenager.
About her sister, Howard wrote: "She was a musician too. I did this so her name would no longer bring me memories of sadness and as a way to thank her for passing on to me everything she loved: music, art, creativity."
Howard also released the album's first single, "History Repeats," which you can listen to right here. And she also dropped some upcoming tour dates, which you can peep at the bottom.
