André 3000 Drops Limited Shirt Collection to Raise Funds for Movement for Black Lives
The jumpsuits André wore during OutKast's 2014 tour inspired the collection.
On Wednesday morning, André 3000 made a rare post on Instagram. Before you get excited, unsurprisingly, it had nothing to do with new music. The post announced a new limited collection of T-shirts inspired by the jumpsuits he wore during OutKast's most recent tour in 2014. The shirts will be on sale for just three days.
"Something very important is happening all over the world," he wrote. "It is happening to all of us. How does it make you feel?"
André will donate all proceeds from the collection to the Movement for Black Lives. "This is only one piece in the war against systemic racism," he wrote on his official website. "It takes all of us. BLACK LIVES MATTER...at a minimum."
The shirts are on sale for $75 each. Each piece is composed of 100 percent ethically recycled cotton. Phrases include the most notable, "across cultures darker people suffer most. why?" Check out the full collection.
The Movement for Black Lives recently launched a letter to demand national divestment from police, in order to invest in Black communities. Notable celebrities and activists like John Legend, dream hampton, Taraji P. Henson, and Yara Shahidi have already signed on. The group is asking readers to contact local officials to vote no on all increases to police budgets, vote yes to decrease police spending and budgets, and increase spending on healthcare, education, and community programs.
