'Apprentice' Contestant Omarosa Joins Trump's White House Staff

Omarosa Manigault has officially joined President-elect Donald Trump's White House team as his public liaison, according to a transition official.

In a report from ABC News, the former The Apprentice contestant originally wanted to be an ambassador to Haiti, considering her past community and missionary work in the Caribbean island.

Omarosa has been one of Trump's most vocal black supporters throughout his campaign, originally meeting him during her time on The Apprentice. She was on the show for nine weeks until she was given Trump's infamous "You're fired" tagline. She ultimately returned to The Apprentice franchise several times after, as well as appeared on other reality TV shows.

During Trump's presidential campaign Omarosa served as his director of African American outreach, and has now joined his transition team executive committee. Her praise of Trump has often come with controversy.

"Every critic, every detractor, will have to bow down to President Trump," she said in an interview for a PBS Frontline documentary about the presidential campaign. "It is the ultimate revenge to become the most powerful man in the universe."

Last month she wrote an essay in defense of Trump, stating that "Truly, I am living the American dream because of Donald Trump. Look at my career, the wealth and exposure that I've had: It's very difficult to make the argument that Donald Trump doesn't like black people and black women."

However, Omarosa seems to have more experience than the President-elect Trump. This will mark her second season serving in the White House, with Omarosa having worked in the office of Vice President Al Gore during the Clinton administration. But, as People reported, she was let go from four different positions during Clinton's tenure as president.

"She was asked to leave as quickly as possible, she was so disruptive," a source told the magazine in 2004.
