Lykke Li x A$AP Rocky Connect On "No Rest For The Wicked" Remix
Lykke Li has been fearless from day one; mixing her melancholy creations with heavy beats or techno remixes. Do you remember when Drake sampled the singers first single "Little Bit" on So Far Goneor when she collaborated with Kleerup to make "Until We Bleed"? This time, Lykke Li has teamed up with A$AP Rocky to bring us a new version of her single "No Rest For The Wicked." The remix keeps Lykke Li's delicate piano riff but adds a regretful spoken word from Rocky in the intro. After the chorus, the track breaks down with stormy swells and a thumping bass. Of course, Rocky introduces himself as that PMF and takes inspiration from Li, tackling his shame and regret through lyrics--like "No question, If love don't work it's just gone hurt/It all goes bad, it just gets worse/I can't describe with just 1 verse"-- that leave us wanting more. Lykke Li and A$AP Rocky are a beautiful pair - and not as unusual as you may think. The rapper has worked with pop names spanning from Mariah Carey ("Beautiful" Remix) to Santigold ("Hell") and Florence Welch ("I Come Apart") - we're happy to add Lykke Li to his list of collabs.
The songstress' first album Youth Novels made use of Afro-Caribbean rhythms while her second album Wounded Rhymes leaned towards rock n' roll with big boomy sounds (à la Phil Spector's wall of sound). The poetic pop singer's third album I Never Learn is due out May 6th and features the singles "Love Me Like I'm Not Made Of Stone"; "Gunshot" and "No Rest For The Wicked." The A$AP Rocky remix premiered exclusively on Beats Music but now the official audio is available with some smoky visuals, stream it below.
