LargeUp Audio: Bad Brains - "Into The Future" + New LP
Yup. Bad Brains is back. As if called forth from unnatural slumber by Lauryn Hill's repetition of the phrase "Fearless Vampire Killer" 3 times, the original afropunks have released a new song "Into The Future" and announced that they'll be releasing an album of the same name on November 20th. Get the full story--among other tidbits, the LP includes a Yauch tribute titled "MCA Dub"--from LargeUp then hit the link at bottom to stream "Into The Future."
While at this point in 2012, it would seem that most people under 30 probably know Bad Brains as a trendy t-shirt more than as the dreadlocked, DC based punk/hardcore band that incorporated reggae with loud, thrashing rock, influencing a generation and solidifying themselves as the most important band of their genre. Their path has been a bumpy road, lead singer HR’s eccentric and sometimes destructive ways have been said to have sabotaged major record deals and the chance to go from biggest underground group ever to…well, we can only imagine. The good news is they’re back with their ninth studio album, Into The Future. The record has 13 tracks (tacklisting after the jump) and is a tribute to their friend and longtime fan, Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys who passed away earlier this year. The album’s artwork artwork is done by another longtime fan, Shepard Fairey.
