Barack Obama Endorses Joe Biden, Says He Has the Most Progressive Agenda
He thanked healthcare workers and public servants for their bravery.
After Bernie Sanders' suspension of his presidential campaign, Barack Obama officially announced his endorsement of Joe Biden on Tuesday. Obama also took the time to address American citizens working in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The spirit of looking out for one another can't be limited to our homes," he said. "It also has to be reflected in our national government. The kind of leadership that's guided by knowledge and experience...that's why I'm so proud to endorse Joe Biden for president of the United States."

Biden served as vice-president for both of Obama's presidential terms. He described the choice as one of the best decisions he'd ever made in his endorsement announcement.
"He became a close friend," he continued. "I believe Joe has all the qualities we need for a president right now.
Obama addressed the American healthcare crisis, acknowledging the need to "look to the future" in this campaign. He cited Bernie Sanders' campaign as proof of the American public's frustration.

"There's too much unfinished business for us to just look backward," he said. "We have to look to the future. Bernie understands that, and Joe understands that. It's one of the reasons Joe already has what is the most progressive platform of any major-party nominee in history."
The Democratic National Convention has been postponed due to the pandemic.
