Beastie Boys's Adam Yauch Park In Brooklyn Was Vandalized With Swastikas + "Go Trump"
A disturbing spike in hate crimes continues to rise following the election of an orange blob of unabashed xenophobia to the presidency of the United States of America. A park in Brooklyn, New York named after Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys was vandalized with graffiti of swastikas and words that read "Go Trump." Yauch and the other Beastie Boy's were Jewish. After a battle with cancer, Adam Yauch passed away in 2012. He was 47-years-old.
Fears of xenophobic policies being brought forward by Donald Trump have not been quelled by recent appointments to the Trump administration and the comments of his surrogates. While on FOX News’ Megyn Kelly, Donald Trump supporter Carl Higbie, in an attempt to justify keeping a national registry of Muslim-Americans cited the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II. Speaking on the policy Higbie remarked, “It is legal. They say it will hold constitutional muster. I know the the [American Civil Liberties Union] is going to challenge it, but I think it will pass.” He continued, “And we’ve done it with Iran back — back a while ago, we did it during World War II with Japanese which, call it what you will, it may be wrong..."
Later in his life Yauch spoke up against the United States' bombing of Muslim countries.
