The Best Moments From the 78th Golden Globe Awards
Daniel Kaaluya, Chadwick Boseman, and Andra Day were announced winners during the 78th Golden Globe Awards.
Last week the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was exposed for having no Black members. It's clear that the news forced the powers that be to diversify the 78th Golden Globe Awards and its winners.
The winning list of the evening featured an assortment of Black talent, a few stars actually took home their first-ever Golden Globe: Daniel Kaaluya and John Boyega. Beyond the wins, there were also actors and actresses who were a part of the ceremony: Tiffany Haddish, Tracy Morgan, Angela Bassett, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson and ambassadors Jackson and Satchel Lee.
Elsewhere during the ceremony, the HPFA awkwardly mentioned that they had plans to reform its ranks. "We recognize we have our own work to do," said vice president Helen Hoehne.
With no Black participants, the voting body somehow managed to hand off awards to talent who maybe would have flown under the radar this year. Let's not forget when the 2021 nominations were released, quite a few Black projects were snubbed. Though we're happy to see Black talent get their flowers, we're also hoping long-term strategy, and diversity actually comes as the years continue.
Below we're highlighting the best moments from the 78th annual Golden Globes.
