15 New Hip-Hop & R&B Albums You Should Be Listening To (Week of August 13)
This week's top albums feature selections from Big K.R.I.T., Benny the Butcher, Alchemist & Boldy James, Pip Millett, Jay Glavany and more.
It’s officially New Music Friday and we’re serving up all of the projects that caught our attention this week. The biggest release of the past week included drops from some of our faves like Big K.R.I.T., Benny the Butcher in addition to Alchemist & Boldy James.
Big K.R.I.T.’s return is something we didn’t really see coming in 2021, but Return of 4Eva was worth the wait. It’s packed with bass-heavy beats that’ll carry us through the weekend. Benny The Butcher’s Pyrex Picasso is a quick listen that’s substantial enough to add to your rotation for the rest of the summer. It features appearances from Conway The Machine, Rick Hyde and El Camino.
There were also a few lesser-known artists that chose Friday as their release date as well. Pip Millett rolled out her impressive EP Motion Sick; Rosemarie shared Sinnergy, also an EP; Benjamin Earl Turner unleashed SELLING AIR, an experimental EP; Kevin Holliday dropped OMNI. Jay Glavany’s 4-track project Look What You've Done is another compilation worthy of a listen.
Additional standouts that made our cut this week include YNW Melly’s Just A Matter of Slime, Navy Blue’s Navy Reprise and K Camp’s Float.
