Watch JAY-Z and Beyoncé's Emotional GLAAD Acceptance Speech

"LGBTQI rights are human rights."

Beyoncé and JAY-Z received the Vanguard Award at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards ceremony, Thursday in Beverly Hills.

The power couple was presented with the honor under the organization's stipulations of allies who have made a significant difference in promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people.

"I also wanna honor my mother, who received the award last year," Jay said during the speech. Hov told his mother, Gloria Carter's story on his critically acclaimed 4:44 album. She received the vanguard award the year prior.

Beyoncé went on to honor her late Uncle Johnny, whom she called, "The most fabulous gay man I ever knew."

“He helped raise me and my sister. He lived his truth," she continued. "He was brave and unapologetic during a time when this country wasn’t as accepting — witnessing his battle with HIV was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever lived,” she said. Jay rubbed her back as she grew a bit emotional. "I'm hoping that his struggle served to open pathways for other young people to live more freely. LGBTQI rights are human rights."

She went on to praise Jay for his work "changing stigmas in the hip-hop community."
