Beyoncé Shuts Down Super Bowl w/ Destiny's Child + Tour Dates & Grammy News
King Beyoncé pretty much silenced any doubts as to who runs the pop world (girls) in 2013 last night during her epic Super Bowl XLVII halftime performance - although I'm not sure why we're not just calling it the Beyoncétime performance at this point. Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams (quite literally) popped out of the stage to support Bey in a "surprise" Destiny's Child reunion, but the two-song ode to the group's success - short versions of "Bootylicious" and "Independent Women, Part 1" were only a quick detour before steering back into Beyoncé-land with "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" - felt more like PR move to highlight B's charity toward the ghost of divas past rather than an actual tribute to the group, especially considering the exclusion of the dope single DC put out less than a month ago. And as if actually shutting down the Super Bowl (maybe) was not enough to prove her pop supremacy, Beyoncé followed the game with the announcement of the biggest tour of her career. The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour will take her to almost every major city on the planet, ending at her husband's Barclays Center in Brooklyn this summer (tour dates here). Oh, and while you were busy eating nachos during the game delay caused by the blackout, a new commercial for this year's Grammy Awards revealed Prince and Beyoncé as additional performers for the ceremony. With all this Beyoncé news speaking for itself, the only thing that seems appropriate to ask comes from her husband, Hova himself: Any questions? Didn't think so.
