Big K.R.I.T. & Raphael Saadiq Perform "Soul Food" w/ The Roots On The Tonight Show
Big K.R.I.T andRaphael Saadiq were joined by the mighty Roots crew last night as they performed the standout Cadillactica cut "Soul Food" live on The Tonight Show. Saadiq manned the bass like it was 1999 (a la Voodoo sessions) and lent his voice to the chorus as Questo, Kirk and Poys provided a solid bedrock as the band in-tow, providing an ample and all-too-solid bedrock for K.R.I.T. and Saadiq to woo and awe on this first night back in studio 6b in the brand spanking new year. And who better to provide that new year score than the Illa Fifth, Saadiq and the southern slur specialist we know as K.R.I.T.?
For this particular Okayplayer, it wasn't all too difficult to recall The Chris Rock Show ca. '97 when Quest, Saadiq and D'Angelo would dazzle the world with some of the most stank-face-inducing churchy funk the world had ever seen (sans Sam Cooke intro, of course.) The boys have still got the goods, folks. You can watch Big K.R.I.T and Raphael Saadiq perform their neck-breaking Cadillactica collaboration "Soul Food" on The Tonight Show below.
