Bobby Shmurda Officially Released From Prison
Bobby Shmurda is set to serve the remainder of his sentence under "community supervision until his maximum expiration date of February 23, 2026."
Bobby Shmurda has officially been released from prison.
Two months ago, the rapper was granted conditional release for good behavior. He was also granted an early release due to his participation in prison programs. His previous release date was bumped from December 10, 2021, to February 23.
Ahead of his release, the rapper shared the following statement via his Instagram Stories:
"My team created this Instagram page after my original page was hacked but thanks to my dedicated fans I managed to get my page verified and also 1M followers without ever being active on this page. Thank you for remaining loyal and for riding this six year sentence out with me. I love you all and look forward to seeing you soon. Sincerely, Bod boy Bobb ah ahh ahhh."
According to a TMZ report the rapper plans to start recording new music and spend time with his family upon his release. His mother, Leslie Pollard says an intimate dinner with Bobby and his family has already been planned.
Pollard added she was counting down the days until her son came home and that he’s excited. Following the planned dinner, he’ll most likely get right to the music.
Over the weekend, Rowdy Rebel spoke on Bobby Shmurda’s behalf during an interview with Hot 97’s TT Torrez on Shmurda’s release. After she shared she’d heard Shmurda was getting out early, she also asked if he’d be joining Rowdy Rebel on the Summer Jam 2021 stage. The rapper replied by sharing, “We definitely gon’ show up to Summer Jam. I normally wouldn’t speak on my brother’s behalf, but I know my brother ain’t gonna miss Summer Jam … Some things are just mandatory, and Summer Jam is mandatory.”
Rowdy who was released in December later mentioned a few choice words about his ongoing friendship with Schmurda who took a longer bid to shorten his sentence. “We have the same relationship that every family has … We argue … but the love overpowers everything, right?” Rowdy shared during the interview. “We’ve been through some things … and we’ve survived those things, so we appreciate it for each other—we're thankful for each other.”
We previously reported Bobby Shmurda was granted conditional release on February 23 from New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility. His early release comes after being denied parole in 2020. Back in 2016, he was sentenced to seven years in prison.
XXL reports the rapper "will serve the remainder of his sentence under community supervision until his maximum expiration date." Shmurda will be checking in regularly with his parole officer. He'll be on parole until February 23, 2026.
