Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Rebrands as 'Boneless Thugs-N-Harmony' to Sell Chicken

Layzie Bone isn't on board with the change.

Buffalo Wild Wings is testing new waters when it comes to advertising. For their latest ad, they enlisted one of rap's most influential groups.

For the time being, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony will now go by Boneless Thugs-N-Harmony. The group is selling merchandise on BonelessThugs.com. In a Behind the Music spoof advertisement, Krayzie Boneless, Wish Boneless, and Flesh-n-Boneless try to convince Layzie Bone to go along with the name change.

"I ain't changing shit," Layzie repeats throughout the ad, "it's preposterous."

When Wish hands him a plate of wings, he admits they're "actually pretty good...they ain't change-your-name good."

The Martin Agency is responsible for the ad campaign. The agency recently worked on GEICO's Sequels campaign, which brought back classic GEICO characters for a set of new ads.

The advertisement leans into the nostalgic air of many recent ad campaigns. The promotion isn't linked to any special deal including boneless wings.

"Wow, this is humbling," the brand said on its official Twitter account. "We knew our new boneless wings were good, but didn't know they were change-your-name good."

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony won a Grammy in 1997 for "Tha Crossroads." Recently, a fan from Japan sold everything he owned and bought a one-way plane ticket to Cleveland to meet the legendary rap group. After community activists took him in, the group reached out and assisted with clothes and lodging.
