'The Boondocks' Aaron McGruder And Seung-Eun Kim Pen Tribute To John Witherspoon
The late actor and comedian portrayed Robert Jebediah "Grandad" Freeman on the popular animated TV show.
To say John Witherspoon, who passed away this week, was a pivotal part of Aaron McGruder's The BoondocksTV series wouldn't be an understatement. Voicing Robert Jebediah "Grandad" Freeman, Witherspoon's character served as the grandfather to Huey and Riley Freeman (both voiced by Regina King), and offered insight and comic relief throughout the show's four seasons.

In remembrance of Witherspoon and his contributions to the show, Aaron McGruder and Seung-Eun Kim penned a tribute to the late actor and comedian.
"John let me borrow his wonderful, magical voice... and now I've lost part of my own. I will miss him as both fan and friend," McGruder said alongside an illustration of Freeman and Witherspoon drawn by Kim.
Witherspoon died at his home on Tuesday, October 29. The actor, who was 77 at the time of his death, maintained one of the more successful careers in entertainment.
