Camp Lo's Geechi Suede To Drop Solo Debut Album Next Month
To tide those of us off that are looking forward to that new Camp Lo album dropping next year, Geechi Suede is releasing his debut solo album next month.
One half of the veteran star act, Geechi's upcoming project is titled 0.9 NyteLife FM, and an album trailer has been released to coincide with the announcement.
"It's like if we were a radio station playing the music we want to hear, and not what we feel like the people want to hear," Geechi states about the album in the clip.
The video then shifts to him rapping over a rather futuristic boom bap beat, before shifting to a tour stop at Downtown Los Angeles' Regent Theatre with Camp Lo and Digable Planets.
"I'm just excited about what I got going on individually, as well as collectively with my partner Sonny Cheeba," Geechi says as the clip cuts to Camp Lo performing "Luchini."
The Camp Lo release for next year will coincide with the 20 year anniversary of the duo's seminal album, Uptown Saturday Night. The album was released on January 28, 1997, and featured notable singles "Coolie High," "Luchini AKA This Is It" and "Black Nostaljack AKA Come On."
The untitled project is slated to drop some time in January, according to an Instagram post on Geechi's account.
It'll be interesting to see who pops up on both Geechi and Camp Lo's releases. Ski Beatz has been an integral part to the two's sound since the release of Uptown Saturday Night, so it's likely that he'll be on both projects.
The last release from the group was last year's Ragtime Hightimes. They also made an appearance on this year's The Avalanches album Widlflower, on the song "Because I'm Me."
